Northeast Fufeng's 500,000 t per year amino acid and ancillary facilities project 08-18-2022

Summary: On 22 July, the EI report of Northeast Fufeng's 500,000 t/a amino acid and ancillary facilities project was publicised for the second time.

On 22 July, the Environment Impact (EI) report of Hulun Buir Northeast Fufeng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (Northeast Fufeng)'s 500,000 t/a amino acid and ancillary facilities project was publicised for the second time on its official website.

Project overview

  • Type of project: New construction
  • Construction site location: Hulun Buir Lingdong Industrial Development Zone, Zalantun City, Hulun Buir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
  • Area: 1,665,000 square metres
  • Total investment: USD1.41 billion (RMB9.5 billion);
  • Investment for environmental protection purposes: USD131.55 million (RMB887.51 million)
  • Construction specifications: Respective workshops for starch, glutamic acid, monosodium glutamate, lysine, synthetic ammonia, sodium carbonate, bacterial protein, and compound fertiliser, a power house (including seven 240 t/h boilers and six 30MW power units), an environmental protection treatment workshop for wastewater, plus ancillary facilities will be built.
  • Usage of raw material: 1,151,600 t/a of corn
  • Production technique and production equipment:
  • Starch workshop: corn soaking, starch emulsion production, sugar refining, protein powder production, corn bran feed production, corn germ meal production, acid making, and packaging
  • Glutamic acid workshop:
  • The raw material, low-content glucose, will be sourced from starch workshop.
  • The biological synthesis of glutamic acid involves glycolysis (EMP pathway), phosphohexose pathway (HMP pathway), tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle), glyoxylic acid cycle, and Wood-Werkman reaction.
  • 12 fermentation tanks, eight tanks of continuous sugar supply, 16 seeding fermentation tanks will be equipped.
  • Monosodium glutamate workshop:
  • The raw material, glutamic acid, will be sourced from glutamic acid workshop.
  • The production technique of "neutralisation & decolourisation, condensation & crystallisation, and oven-drying" will be applied.
  • Major equipment include 10 stock solution tanks, three carbon tanks, six waste carbon tanks, and 15 crystallisation tanks.
  • Lysine workshop:
  • The raw material, low-content glucose, will be sourced from starch workshop. 98.5% lysine hydrochloride and 70% lysine sulphate will be produced in the same production line.
  • By applying straight fermentation method, inorganic salt, with liquid glucose as carbon source and other material as nitrogen source, will be sterilised by high temperature and will be added with bacterial strains, so as to carry out sterile culture; in this way, L-Lysine fermentation broth will be produced. L-Lysine fermentation broth will then undergo acidification, condensation, liquid spraying, granulation, and drying, eventually becoming the final product.
  • Number of budgeted posts: 3,000
  • Number of annual working days: 333
